A new service aimed at enabling companies to utilise the growing phenomenon of podcasting as part of their marketing and communications activities has been launched by the owner of www.beatsuite.com, Steve Bainbridge.
Podcast Digital is believed to be the first company in the North East to offer companies a complete podcast service - from on-site recording, sound mixing, editing, podcast creation, publishing, submission and even podcast hosting.
Steve Bainbridge, Managing Director, says: “Podcasting is becoming an integral and accepted part of the marketing mix and companies large and small are utilising it as an effective communications mechanism."
A podcast is an audio file that can be downloaded from the Internet which can also contain images, links and even video footage. Podcasts are a way of subscribing to audio content and once you have downloaded a podcast you can be automatically notified when a new episode is available. They are free to download. All you need is iTunes software - which is free to download for Mac and PC.

Already Podcast Digital has been used by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) to podcast a series of guest speakers from their annual symposium.
Vicki Jackson-Hopps, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, explains: “We don’t always use such new technology but we thought that podcasting the CIEH Symposium was a great idea. Anyone who missed the event can now download the podcast and listen again to the speakers. The great thing is that each Podcast contains links to websites and you can even download the PowerPoint presentation of the guest speakers as they talk! Our members have been very happy with the podcasts and it is something we will be sure to expand upon. There are six episodes of our podcast currently online so please download them and take a listen.”

Steve adds: “Podcasts are proving effective for a broad range of companies both new and established. This is because it is a fantastic platform for broadcasting information to users. We have recently seen the BBC begin trials of podcast that range from radio shows, movie reviews through to news reports and topical affairs."
